Our story

Hi, I'm Alex, Penny and Lyla's mum.

I'm married to Duncan, and together we have two beautiful girls, Penny and Lyla. Sadly we only get to hold the girls in our hearts, not in our arms. We lost Penny to miscarriage at 13+4 weeks in 2022, and Lyla shortly after she was born at 23 weeks in 2023.

'Love From Penny & Lyla' is a way to share our babies with the world, to make sure their memories live on, and in a way, to parent from afar. It's a small comfort to be able to pass on the love that Penny and Lyla have brought to us, to others who need it in their darkest hours.

Our mission

To provide support, comfort and connection to families who have lost a baby during pregnancy or early infancy.

To ensure grieving families know they are not alone.

The Luca Box

Your donation will be used to donate love-filled baby loss care boxes to Canberra families. Baby loss at any stage is heartbreaking.

The Luca Box is named after a very loved and special baby boy, who was lost too soon. All of the items in this box have been carefully selected, based on feedback from many loss parents. We hope they provide even just a small comfort to parents and families, and connection to the beautiful loss community. With many thanks to the generous people and organisations who make these boxes possible.

Later Loss Boxes

COMING SOON...

We are working towards being able to provide care boxes for loss at any stage, from early pregnancy through to infancy. Losing a baby at any stage is heartbreaking, but so often the earlier losses aren’t given the same consideration.

Right now, in Canberra, there’s a big gap in support to the early loss area, so that’s where we are starting.

Donations in memory

Donate a box in memory of a loved one

If you’d like to donate the cost of a whole box, we would be honoured if you’d like to donate in memory of someone special.

Our entire project is based around the principle of acts of kindness in the name of loved ones who are no longer with us. It’s about sharing love, compassion, and connection with others when they need it.

We are so honoured to share the names of those who have been lost so their impact lives on.

The cost of covering a whole box is $150. If you’d like to donate a box in memory of a loved one, please make your donation, and then contact us with your details and what you’d like written on the card, so we can include it with the box.
