A Spooktacular Event at Women, Youth and Children, Centenary Hospital | CAN GIVE DAY 2021

07 Nov 2021

Women, Youth and Children CAN GIVE DAY was a little different this year with the staff getting involved with A Spooktacular Event!

Fancy Dress Costumes, Bake Sale, Colouring In and Lolly Guessing Competitions not only lifted everyone's spirits but it was a great way to fundraise for CAN GIVE DAY 2021.

We were fortunate to have Canberra Hospital Foundation Ambassador, Leo Sayer, attend on the day to judge the Fancy Dress Costume competition, and sing a song via Zoom to the staff.

Let's hear all about the event from Associate Professor Boon Lim, Acting Executive Director, Women, Youth and Children.

"Women Youth and Children Can Give Day was a little different this year. Unfortunately we were unable to hold our inaugural Women Youth and Children Bedpan Olympics. Instead, we presented A Spooktacular Event.

And what a successful Spooktacular Event it was. In keeping with the Halloween theme we challenged everyone to wear their most ghoulish costume! There were witches, ghosts, a mad hatter, devils, Cruella, even a lobster and a COVID cell. We can’t forget the puppies involvement – well done Oscar and Poppy! (Photos at bottom of post).

Thank you to everyone who participated. I’m sure you agree, there were some amazing costumes.

WYC Best Dressed Halloweeian went to Chloe Elliot. Congratulations Chloe! Thank you to Graze Up for donating a great prize.

Here are some other great costumes.

Colouring in competition winners were Taylah aged 2, Willow aged 8 and Zachie aged 11. Very creative work!

Don’t forget our Bake sale. I would like to thank all the donors who gave generously their time and money and in particular those of you who brought in all their cakes, slices, biscuits and lolly bags for the Bake sale. With a change of venue the Bake Sale was a hit and raised approximately $1250.

We raised near $5000 for the day.

Very special thanks to Chloe, Kelly, Alicia, Ida, Chris and Sam who coordinated all the organisation for the day and spent hours preparing for the day which was a resounding success!"
