Return Giving: Turning Plastic into Goodwill

25 Aug 2023
Empty plastic bottles hold the potential to raise funds for the Canberra Hospital Foundation, and you can help us achieve our goals!

We are supporting Canberra Hospital by partnering with Recollect to turn single-use plastic bottles around the hospital into recycled and reusable goods. This brilliant opportunity will help us secure ongoing funds, allowing us to continue assisting the delivery of exceptional patient care in the Canberra community.

The process is simple yet impactful. Empty bottles from the hospital are repurposed to avoid creating more plastic. Instead, they are simply reused to reduce the amount of plastic present in our environment.

Dedicated recycling bins have been introduced across Canberra Hospital for patients, visitors, staff and food services to dispose of their plastic bottles. For every returned bottle, we receive 10c which fuels our efforts to help support specialised equipment, advance research initiatives, and enhance patient wellbeing and support for our healthcare workers.

As of August 2023, we have had 16,500 plastic bottles returned!

Earlier this year, we hosted a trial period for Return Giving, demonstrating its immense effectiveness. As such, we will soon be expanding into University of Canberra Hospital and Northside Hospital! We'd love for our Canberra Hospital Foundation supporters and the Canberra community to help us achieve our sustainability and fundraising goals by simply returning plastic bottles using our Recollect promo code.

You must register here, enter our promo code CHF2023 when prompted and start collecting plastic bottles to recycle. Through doing so, you would be contributing to our Return Giving program and help us raise funds through sustainable means.

By the simple act of returning plastic bottles, you are contributing to a cycle of positive change.
