THE CHALLENGE
On Sunday 23 July cyclists will take part in an exciting cycling challenge to launch DonateLife Week 2023. Whether you're up for a 200km, 160km, or 100km ride, this event is the perfect opportunity to support and raise awareness for organ and tissue donation in Australia.
The cycle challengers will ride through Canberra's beautiful scenery to highlight the importance of registering your donation decision and discussing your wishes with family. By participating, you'll help spread the word about the life-changing impact of organ and tissue donation and encourage more people to register their decision on the Australian Organ Donor Register via donatelife.gov.au.
Not only will you be making a difference in the lives of those in need of life-saving transplants, but you'll also be supporting the purchase of specialised and comfortable furnishings for the dedicated family and visitors room within the Critical Services Building, Intensive Care & Paediatric Intensive Care Units at the Canberra Hospital. Your generous contribution will provide comfort to future ICU loved ones and visitors.
While the ride may be challenging, it pales in comparison to the difficult times faced by patients and families in the ICU and Paediatric ICU units. Your participation in this event means so much to those in need and will make a significant difference in their lives.
To participate, there is a $100 registration fee, which will go towards the donation fund for the family and visitors room and for the provision of DonateLife rider jerseys. Please note that insurance is mandatory for all riders, and by registering for the event, you agree to attain and maintain appropriate insurance for the duration of the ride.
