In Kind Gifts

The Canberra Hospital Foundation welcomes donations of in kind gifts for patients at Canberra Hospital. All areas throughout the hospital and health service greatly benefit from donations of in kind gifts including our adult patients in medical wards such as the Stroke Unit, our most elderly patients in the Aged Care Ward, and our youngest patients in Paediatrics.

In Kind Gift guidelines

  • All in kind gifts must be brand new
  • Preloved items are NOT accepted due to infection control guidelines
  • In kind gifts must not be wrapped due to safety reasons. This also allows staff to easily distribute appropriate gifts to individual patients
  • All in kind donations can be dropped off at Canberra Hospital during business hours. Please contact us to organise an appropriate time.

Suggested gifts

Gift suggestions below are based on the most popular items requested by patients and families.

If you have questions about the items listed or would like to check the suitability of an item not listed, please contact us.

Knitted and crocheted items

Knitted and crocheted items bring much comfort to patients and are suitable for all ages. Popular items that are needed at Canberra Hospital include blankets (knee rugs, single and double blankets), beanies for all ages and matching cardigans and beanies for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

We are very grateful for donations of age appropriate toys, including stuffed toys like teddy bears, for our youngest patients. Please remember that all toys must be brand new.

Patients benefit greatly from donations of new books, puzzle books and magazines.

Art work

If you are interested in donating a piece of art to Canberra Hospital, please contact us so that we can put you in touch with the Arts in Health Curator to discuss your donation.
