In a momentous collaboration, ClubsACT, the peak body for Canberra's Community Clubs, has joined forces with CHF for a year-long fundraising initiative leading up to our annual flagship event held every October, Can Give Day 2024. This dynamic partnership aims to harness the generosity of ClubsACT's extensive membership base, consisting of 38 community clubs across Canberra.
The collaboration will kick off next month, involving the 38 clubs under the ClubsACT umbrella, each striving to make a difference in their own way. Our common goal is to implement a variety of fundraising initiatives tailored to the unique capacities and capabilities of each club. From CEO involvement in the Big Wig challenge to innovative fundraising ideas such as donating a portion of schnitty sales, the possibilities are too many to count on both hands.
ClubsACT Operations Manager, Kate Palmer, expressed the enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the diverse nature of the clubs and their shared passion for community service. This partnership had been a long-time coming, and despite setbacks due to COVID-19, ClubsACT is eager to support our vital work. Hospitals and medical centres across Canberra and region, including The Canberra Hospital, Centenary Hospital for Women and Children, Canberra Region Cancer Centre, North Canberra Hospital, University of Canberra Hospital, Clare Holland House, walk-in centres and community health centres and services, will also benefit from this collaboration.
ClubsACT President Kim Marshall echoed our excitement, encouraging each club to aim for a minimum fundraising target of $10,000 throughout 2024. This partnership extends beyond financial support as together we aim to enhance health services and overall wellbeing of our entire community and its residents. For this, we will be working closely with ClubsACT and its members through the year, culminating this endeavour as a donation on Can Give Day 2024. There is always the potential to double the impact through matched giving from our generous supporters.
In a conversation with Riotact writer Dione David, Susan Proctor, CHF Deputy Chair, said, “The foundation provides its services to all those members when they need health service care and comfort, so ClubsACT and CHF have a mutual interest in ensuring members of the Canberra community who are, more often than not, members of clubs, have as good an experience as possible when they or their loved ones need to use their local health service,”
This the year progresses, we eagerly anticipate a transformative journey, enhancing community health and well-being through shared efforts and a commitment to making a difference.
Stay tuned for updates on this exciting collaboration as it unfolds throughout the year!
